Akzo Nobel High Purity Metalorganics

The Akzo Nobel HPMO manufacturing facility is located in Deer Park, Texas and holds both ISO 9001-2000 and ISO 14001:1996 certifications.

The plant has state of the art chemical analysis equipment such as ICP-AES for trace metal analysis and NMR for oxygen analysis. Our transfilling methods for liquid MO sources are MOCVD compatible, in that none of it is performed in a glove box. Instead, leak tight manifolds, as shown in the picture on the right, are used. This ensures that the purity of the manufactured batch is preserved as it is transfilled into smaller cylinders that are then shipped to and used by our customers.

Manufacturing

Akzo Nobel’s Deer Park plant produces thousands of tons of metal alkyls (TMAl, TEAl, DEZn, and TEB, for example) that are used in the plastics and pharmaceutical industries. As such, Akzo Nobel HPMO is vertically integrated in TMAl. This process grade TMAl is then purified in order to be used as a raw material in the production of our high purity MO-III materials such as: TMGa and TMIn. The Deer Park plant also manufactures other high purity metalorganic sources such as: TEAl, TEGa, DMZn, DEZn, TMSb, and TESb.

Research and Development

Akzo Nobel HPMO is constantly working to address our customer’s needs. As such we have an active R&D group focused not only on the chemicals we supply, but also on chemical delivery methods. Innovations such as our specialized solid source TMIn cylinder, the Hiperloop, resulted from the expertise and talents of our R&D staff.
